Teyana Taylor has revealed she will undergo emergency surgery to remove a noncancerous growth on her vocal cord.
In an Instagram Story update, the “Maybe” singer said she has been quietly battling vocal challenges for some time before doctors confirmed the growth, which has caused discomfort and affected her voice. While the condition is treatable, Taylor will step away from public appearances to focus on recovery.
The actress and musician expressed disappointment at having to miss planned commitments, including an appearance on Michelle Obama’s podcast in Martha’s Vineyard. However, she assured fans that her Escape Room visual album will still drop on August 22.
“Life handed me my own unexpected ‘escape room’ — one I didn’t ask for, but one I now have to find my way out of with patience, rest and faith,” she wrote, promising to return “with even more fire, more purpose and the best version of me.”
This marks Taylor’s second major health scare in recent years; in 2021, she underwent emergency surgery in Miami after doctors found lumps in her breasts.
