Thieves Steal 11 Hermès Birkin bags From British Tourists at Saint-Tropez Hotel

Thieves Steal €1M in Luxury Goods From British Tourists at Saint-Tropez Hotel

Two wealthy British women had their holiday in Saint-Tropez turn into a nightmare after burglars ransacked their room at a luxury hotel, stealing 11 Hermès Birkin bags, high-end jewellery, designer luggage, and cash worth nearly €1 million (£867,000), according to French media reports.

The pair reportedly arrived at the exclusive property on Tuesday afternoon and left for an evening stroll around 8 p.m., returning at midnight to find their room in chaos. The door to their private terrace had been forced open, and the wall safe ripped out.

Items taken included Patek Philippe watches, Van Cleef & Arpels and Cartier jewellery — including an engagement ring — as well as Dior luggage and around €15,000 (£13,000) in cash. The women also lost their passports and bank cards.

A friend of the victims, identified as Sabrina, expressed frustration that hotel security detected no intruder and that no one heard anything during the raid. She criticised the lack of robust safety measures at a property claiming five-star status.

The hotel, which was not named, has reportedly suffered a series of similar burglaries this summer targeting wealthy guests. French authorities have received a formal complaint and opened an investigation.
