Trump Slams Russia’s “Disgusting” Actions in Ukraine, Issues Ultimatum

Ukraine Politician Withdraws Trump’s Nobel Peace Prize Nomination Over Putin ‘Appeasement’

U.S. President Donald Trump has strongly condemned Russia’s continued military aggression in Ukraine, calling recent attacks on civilians “disgusting.”

Speaking to reporters on Thursday, July 31, Trump reacted to reports of a missile strike on Kyiv that left at least 16 people dead.

“Russia — I think it’s disgusting what they’re doing. I think it’s disgusting,” he stated.

In response to the growing humanitarian crisis, the President revealed plans to send Steve Witkoff, his special envoy currently in Israel, to Russia for emergency talks. Witkoff has engaged in diplomatic missions to Moscow in the past and is expected to meet with President Vladimir Putin again in an effort to de-escalate tensions.

Trump also issued a stern ultimatum: Russia must cease hostilities in Ukraine by the end of next week or face severe economic sanctions.

“We’re going to put sanctions. I don’t know that sanctions bother him,” Trump said, referring to Putin.

Beyond sanctions, Trump hinted at more aggressive economic actions, including “secondary tariffs” that could target countries still engaging in trade with Russia, such as China and India. Analysts warn such measures could significantly damage Russia’s economy, but might also escalate global economic tensions.
