Boniface nets as Leverkusen falters in comeback draw against Holstein Kiel

Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface has shared the hilarious warning he once gave legendary manager Jose Mourinho before the Portuguese boss suffered the heaviest defeat of his career.

Back in 2021, while playing for Norwegian side Bodø/Glimt, Boniface faced Mourinho’s AS Roma in the UEFA Conference League group stage — a night that ended in a shocking 6-1 thrashing for the Italian club.

On The Culture League Podcast, he revealed:

“Mourinho came to the pitch in Bodø, walked inside, took his phone, recorded everything and posted: ‘This is the situation, very cold.’

I commented on that same post because I didn’t know I’d be at this level today. I said to him, ‘You never see anything.’

That match went down in history as Mourinho’s worst defeat since his 5-0 loss to Barcelona in 2010 while managing Real Madrid.
