Arsenal’s new signing, Viktor Gyokeres, announced himself in style at the Emirates on Saturday, scoring a brace on his home debut as the Gunners demolished Leeds United 5-0 to extend their perfect Premier League start.
The North London side got off to a flying start with Jurrien Timber opening the scoring in the first half. Bukayo Saka doubled the advantage just before the break, giving Arsenal complete control heading into halftime.
The second half saw Gyokeres light up the Emirates with two well-taken goals that showcased why the Gunners moved for him in the summer transfer window.
Timber also grabbed his second of the afternoon, while 15-year-old Max Dowman marked his unforgettable debut by winning a late penalty, calmly dispatched by Gyokeres for his brace.
Arsenal’s dominant display not only underlined their title ambitions but also gave fans a glimpse of the lethal firepower Gyokeres is set to bring to Mikel Arteta’s attack this season.
