Legendary Fuji singer Adewale Ayuba has dismissed claims that he divorced his wife or questioned the paternity of his children, describing the reports as “unfounded and baseless.”
The Bonsue Fuji pioneer issued a statement via Instagram on Monday, captioned: “PUBLIC NOTICE: Disregard the unfounded and baseless story.”
According to the statement, the viral report originated from a “faceless blogger” bent on tarnishing his reputation and ridiculing his family.
“There is absolutely no truth – not a single iota – in this cooked-up story. Dr Adewale Ayuba and his wife, Mrs Azuka Ego, are happily married, and their wonderful children are doing very well. The issue of paternity over their children has never, ever arisen in their marriage.”
The singer also corrected claims that his marriage lasted only a year, stressing that he and his wife have been together for over three decades.
“This reckless blogger stated their marriage only lasted one year. For the record, they have been happily married for well over thirty years! This fundamental error alone exposes the story as a complete fabrication.”
The statement described the rumour as a deliberate smear campaign, adding that legal action was being considered against the source.
Ayuba concluded by urging fans and well-wishers to disregard the falsehood and continue supporting his family.
Ayuba, 60, married Azukaego (née Kwentoh) in 1989. She hails from Onitsha, Anambra State, and together they share seven children.
Despite initial opposition to their union on cultural and religious grounds, Ayuba later embraced Christianity, and the couple has remained united ever since.
Based partly in the United States, Ayuba remains one of Nigeria’s most celebrated Fuji icons, with a career spanning more than four decades.
