South African actress Ama Qamata, best known for her role as Puleng Khumalo in Netflix’s hit teen drama Blood & Water, has been thrown into mourning following the death of her father, Marcus.
The 27-year-old star, whose full name is Amamkele Lithemba Qamata, took to Instagram on Sunday, August 31, 2025, to share the devastating news with her fans and followers. In an emotional tribute, she posted a series of personal photos with her late father, describing him as “the best dad in the entire world.”
“In this moment nothing feels real, life will never be the same again. I love you, Marcus, and I wish I had the opportunity to tell you that one more time… I will miss your sarcastic jokes, your very dry sense of humour lol and our conversations that would last for hours,” she wrote.
The Gomora actress, who previously played Buhle, Katlego Danke’s on-screen daughter in the Mzansi Magic telenovela, added that her father’s love and guidance had profoundly shaped her life. “You loved all of us so deeply, and I am so blessed to have been part of your life. Rest in eternal peace, papa, until we meet again.”
Following her heartfelt post, fans and colleagues in the entertainment industry flooded her comment section with messages of condolence. Blood & Water co-star Gail Mabalane wrote: “I’m so, so sorry, Ama. I am praying for you and the family. ‘God is close to the brokenhearted.’ I love you.”
