Barcelona will face Getafe in La Liga this Sunday at the Johan Cruyff Stadium, their 6,000-capacity training ground venue, as the club continues to push for permits to reopen the revamped Camp Nou.
The Spanish champions recently crushed Valencia 6-0 at the Johan Cruyff in their first home match of the season, after beginning the campaign with three consecutive away fixtures.
In a statement on Tuesday, Barcelona said: “The club continues to work intensely to obtain the administrative permits required for the opening of the Spotify Camp Nou in the coming weeks.”
The Catalan giants plan to partially reopen Camp Nou with reduced capacity while construction continues. The full rebuild of the iconic ground, estimated to cost €1.5 billion ($1.75 billion), is scheduled for completion in 2026.
The Johan Cruyff Stadium, usually home to Barça Femení, has become a temporary fallback option as delays persist.
Barcelona initially closed Camp Nou at the end of the 2022/23 season, announcing a partial reopening for November 2024. However, repeated setbacks in construction and licensing approvals forced them to relocate last season’s matches to the Olympic Stadium on Montjuïc hill.
For now, fans will have to settle for the more intimate Johan Cruyff setting as the club works toward returning to its iconic home ground.
