Afrobeats superstar Davido has disclosed that he was on the verge of quitting music before the release of his hit track “With You” featuring Omah Lay.
Speaking in a recent interview that surfaced online, the singer admitted he did not expect the song to become the most popular off his 5ive Album.
Davido revealed that after more than a decade in the industry, he was considering stepping away from music until the collaboration reignited his career.
“We thank God. Thirteen or fourteen years after, for me to have this kind of song… People usually have this type of song at the beginning of their career or in the middle. Me, that was even getting ready to bow out, then God gives me this kind of song. He definitely added more life to it,” Davido said.
The award-winning artist expressed gratitude for the song’s success, noting that it came at a time when he was reflecting on his long journey in the music industry.
