Afrobeats superstar Tiwa Savage has broken her silence on her much-publicized fallout with Davido, making it clear that her priority remains her children and not industry drama.
In her words:
“I haven’t spoken to Davido, but I want you to know that I love you and would never betray you or take sides. I’m always putting our kids first,” Tiwa explained while addressing the misunderstanding.
How the Rift Started
Trouble began in December 2023 after Tiwa Savage posted a photo with Sophia Momodu, Davido’s first baby mama, on Instagram. Davido allegedly felt the post was meant to taunt him and reportedly sent messages through Tiwa’s management using what she described as “derogatory words.”
Shortly after, Tiwa claimed Davido instructed mutual friends to warn her and told her she should “be careful in Lagos.”
By January 2024, the tension spilled into the public when both Tiwa Savage and Davido unfollowed each other on Instagram, fueling speculation of a deeper fallout.
Tiwa’s Petition to Police
On January 9, 2024, Tiwa filed a formal petition with the Lagos State Police, accusing Davido of harassment, reputational damage, and threats to her safety. She stressed that the threats had affected her sense of privacy and dignity.
Davido’s Side of the Story
Davido, however, has downplayed the conflict, describing Tiwa as “like family” and insisting he would never want harm to come to her. He characterized the issue as a misunderstanding rather than a serious feud.
Fans Hope for Reconciliation
The clash between the two Afrobeats giants quickly became one of the most talked-about industry dramas, with fans taking sides across social media. Yet, Tiwa’s latest comments suggest she is more focused on peace, her family, and avoiding unnecessary conflict.
As of now, Davido has not officially responded to her recent remarks, but fans remain hopeful that the long-time friends and collaborators will eventually reconcile.
