Atletico Madrid have announced that striker Julián Álvarez will miss their upcoming UEFA Champions League match against Liverpool. Álvarez remains sidelined as he recovers from knee discomfort, which forced him off at halftime in their recent LaLiga fixture against Villarreal.
This absence marks only the second time in his senior career that Álvarez has been ruled out of a game due to injury.
He had been a key attacking figure for Atletico, scoring one goal in four appearances this season before the issue flared up.
Atletico will also be missing several other key players, including Thiago Almada, José Maria Giménez, Alex Baena, and Johnny Cardoso, ahead of the trip to Anfield.
