Renowned South African rapper David Junior Ngcobo, popularly known as Nasty C, has disclosed that he is thinking about changing his stage name.
In a candid conversation with Madame Joyce in London, the Coolest Kid In Africa crooner admitted that his popular moniker has no real meaning. According to him, the name was simply formed by putting letters together without any particular inspiration.
When asked about the origin of his name, Nasty C confessed that he once fabricated a backstory just to make it sound authentic.
“It’s random. I just put a bunch of letters together and I started making words out of it, and then I picked that one. I have no idea [about the meaning of the name or what it stands for], I don’t know,” he explained.
He went on to clarify that the widely shared story of his first producer calling him “Nasty Cat,” which later inspired “Nasty C,” was untrue.
“But it’s a lie. I just wanted to have a story and I wanted to mention that guy’s name because he really did help me starting my career. My stage name is just vibe. I want to change it now,” he added.
The revelation has sparked reactions among fans, with many wondering what new identity the award-winning rapper might adopt if he goes ahead with the change.
