NNPC Signs Two-Year Crude Supply Deal with Dangote Refinery

Petroleum Industry Bill Would only give permission to Dangote to Import Fuel

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has sealed a fresh two-year crude supply deal with the Dangote Petroleum Refinery, extending Nigeria’s biggest domestic oil partnership yet.

According to NNPCL spokesman Andy Odeh, the agreement—finalized last month—includes five cargoes for September and another five for October. Details of allocations beyond October were not disclosed.

Since October 2024, the state oil firm has delivered about 82 million barrels of crude to the $20 billion refinery, with 60% of the cargoes paid for in naira, NNPC said.

Last year, the federal government approved a landmark arrangement allowing 445,000 barrels per day of crude to be supplied in naira. The move was aimed at easing pressure on the currency while keeping pump prices stable. Officials have hinted that the pilot program could later be extended to other local refiners.
