Arsenal winger Noni Madueke is expected to be sidelined for around two months after sustaining a knee injury in Sunday’s 1-1 Premier League draw against Manchester City.
The 23-year-old started the clash at the Etihad but was forced off at half-time, replaced by Bukayo Saka after struggling with discomfort.
Head coach Mikel Arteta confirmed the winger felt the problem early in the match.
“He had an issue very early in the match and he wasn’t well enough to continue,” Arteta told The Standard.
According to The Athletic, scans conducted on Monday ruled out anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) damage, but Madueke will still miss a significant portion of Arsenal’s fixtures, including at least one England international window.
His absence deepens Arsenal’s injury crisis in attack. Kai Havertz remains unavailable following knee surgery in August, Gabriel Jesus is recovering from an ACL tear, and captain Martin Odegaard continues to manage a shoulder problem. That leaves summer signing Viktor Gyökeres as the club’s only recognised striker.
Madueke, signed from Chelsea in a £48.5m deal this summer, has featured in all six of Arsenal’s matches so far in the 2025–26 campaign. His injury comes at a crucial time as the Gunners look to maintain momentum, having collected three wins from their opening five league games.
Arsenal’s squad depth will once again be tested on Wednesday, when they face Port Vale in the Carabao Cup third round.
