Radio presenter Penny Ntuli has responded after a viral video of her dancing on the side of a busy freeway caused a major stir online.
The Jozi FM personality was filmed with a friend twerking and dancing for oncoming traffic, a clip that quickly spread across social media. While some viewers found it entertaining, others raised serious safety concerns.
RTMC Condemns Penny Ntuli’s Action
The Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) swiftly condemned the stunt, stressing that it was both reckless and illegal.
In a statement, the RTMC said:
“The RTMC is astonished by this behaviour on our national roads. Pedestrians under the NRTA are prohibited on the freeways and it’s illegal. Content creators should not risk their lives for ‘likes’.”
“I Didn’t Mean to Hurt Anyone” – Penny Ntuli
Reacting to the backlash, Penny clarified that her dance was done in good fun and not to cause harm.
“We were dancing out of fun. What I did wasn’t meant to hurt anyone. I know some things happen because it’s Penny Ntuli, if it was someone else who isn’t Penny Ntuli this wouldn’t even be up for discussion,” she explained.
The radio host also dismissed claims that she was intoxicated, saying:
“I don’t drink alcohol. Everything I do, I do with both my eyes and a sober mind.”
Apology to Fans and Truck Drivers
Penny admitted that the freeway was an unsafe location for such a performance and warned fans not to copy her actions.
“Please don’t be on the freeway doing what I did because it’s not safe… The N3 is known for accidents and I realised that I put my life in danger,” she said.
She also extended an apology to truck drivers, acknowledging that her actions could have distracted them and potentially caused accidents.
While she maintained that the dance itself was just for fun, Penny conceded that her choice of location was “inappropriate and dangerous.”
