Fuji legend Saheed Osupa is full of gratitude after Grammy-winning Afrobeats star Burna Boy publicly recognised him as one of his all-time greatest singers.
In a video shared on Instagram, Burna Boy was seen in conversation with tennis icon Roger Federer during a “GOAT Talk” segment, where he declared, “My GOAT singers are mostly Fuji artistes, like Saheed Osupa.”
Reacting to the shout-out, the 55-year-old Fuji star penned an emotional note celebrating the recognition:
“Burna Boy’s heartfelt tribute, naming me as his GOAT singer on a global stage, is a monumental moment that celebrates the soul of Fuji music and its timeless influence. This honour not only uplifts my journey but also shines a brilliant light on our rich cultural heritage, bridging generations and genres worldwide. I am profoundly grateful for this powerful acknowledgment from a true Afropop titan, the African Giant himself, of whom I am also a great fan.”
Osupa went on to say he hopes to attend one of Burna Boy’s concerts soon to personally appreciate his artistry and reciprocate the love.
This isn’t the first time Burna Boy has hailed the Fuji maestro. Back in 2023, he famously referred to Osupa as “Yoruba Wutang” and “OG before IG” during an Instagram Live. At the time, Osupa warmly responded, saying that only people of “high IQ” truly grasp the depth of his music.
