Taylor Swift’s new album has already made history before its release. The Karma singer recently confirmed that her 12th studio LP, The Life Of A Showgirl, will drop on October 3. On Monday (01.09.25), Spotify revealed the project has become the platform’s most pre-saved album to date.
A post on the company’s Instagram page read: “On August 31st, 2025, Taylor Swift’s ‘The Life Of A Showgirl’ became the most pre-saved album Countdown Page in Spotify history.”
The record surpasses the previous milestone, which was also set by Swift with her 2024 release The Tortured Poets Department.
The Role of Color and Energy
Over the years, Swift has broken multiple Spotify records, including being named the service’s most-streamed artist of 2024. With her latest project, she has placed a strong emphasis on the color orange in both artwork and promotional teasers.
She explained during The Eras Tour that the hue captures the spirit of the album: “exuberant and electric and vibrant.”
Appearing on the New Heights podcast alongside her fiancé Travis Kelce and his brother Jason, she expanded further: “I’ve just always liked it … It feels like energetically how my life has felt – and this album is about what was going on behind the scenes in my inner life during [The Eras Tour], which was so exuberant and electric and vibrant.”
Artwork with Deeper Meaning
The album’s artwork features Taylor Swift submerged in a bathtub wearing a jewelled costume. For the singer, this imagery symbolizes the end of her nightly routine while on tour.
She explained: “This represents the end of my night … My show days are the same every single day, I just have a different city. And my day ends with me in a bathtub – not usually in a bedazzled dress … [The album represents] the life beyond the show … I would say it’s everything that was going on behind the curtain.”
Reuniting with Familiar Collaborators
Another notable highlight of The Life of a Showgirl is Swift’s reunion with long-time collaborators Max Martin and Shellback, producers she has previously worked with on albums Red, 1989, and Reputation.
She said: “One of the things about this record is, like, it’s a record I made with my mentor Max Martin and Shellback. The three of us have made some of my favorite songs that I have ever done before.
“They were my main collaborators on my Red album. We did We Are Never Getting Back Together, I Knew You Were Trouble, 22, Shake It Off, Blank Space, Style, Wildest Dreams, Ready for It, Delicate.”
Speaking about their creative partnership, Taylor Swift added: “They’re just geniuses”.
