Media personality and actress Toke Makinwa has opened up about how motherhood is playing a powerful role in her healing journey.
In a heartfelt post shared on X, the 40-year-old revealed that her daughter has become a source of restoration for wounds she thought had long closed.
“My daughter brought me healing, she is daily healing parts of me I didn’t even know needed healing, healing from my childhood trauma, from grief I thought I had dealt with a long time ago,” she wrote.
“Maybe God knew I needed this.”
Toke, who welcomed her first child, Yakira Eliana, in August 2025, previously described pregnancy as her “biggest project” and “highest calling.”
The author of ” On Becoming ” has been candid about her painful past. She lost both parents in a tragic gas explosion at just eight years old, a loss that left lasting scars.
Years later, she went through a highly publicized divorce from fitness expert Maje Ayida in 2017 after three years of marriage.
Now, she says, motherhood is offering her a fresh perspective, allowing her to confront grief, rediscover joy, and rebuild herself in unexpected ways.
