Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has officially resumed plenary at the National Assembly today, October 7, marking her return after a six-month suspension imposed by the Senate.
Her suspension, which stemmed from a heated exchange with Senate President Godswill Akpabio over seat rearrangement, kept her away from legislative activities since March 2025.
Akpoti-Uduaghan joined her colleagues as the Senate reconvened on Monday following a 10-week recess, signaling a full return to her parliamentary duties.
The senator had earlier returned to her Senate office on September 23, describing her suspension as “illegal” and vowing not to apologise to her colleagues as a condition for reinstatement.
“I will not apologise for standing my ground. My suspension was unconstitutional,” she said at the time.
Her six-month suspension, handed down in March for alleged misconduct during a protest over the reassignment of her seat on February 20, was meant to end in September. However, her official return was delayed due to legal disputes surrounding the disciplinary action.
With her reinstatement, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan is now expected to resume active legislative duties and continue representing the interests of the Kogi Central constituency.
