Popular Nigerian medical doctor and media personality Egemba Chinonso Fidelis, widely known as Aproko Doctor, has cautioned adults to stop the habit of referring to children as “my wife” or “my husband.”
Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) account, the health influencer strongly condemned the practice, describing it as inappropriate and unnecessary.
He wrote:
“Adults should stop referring to kids as ‘my husband’ or ‘my wife’. Stop it.”
His comment quickly gained traction online, sparking a heated debate among social media users.
While some agreed with Aproko Doctor’s stance, saying such expressions normalize inappropriate behavior toward minors, others defended it as a harmless cultural term of endearment.
Supporters of the doctor’s message argued that casual jokes of that nature can subtly encourage unhealthy perceptions of children, while critics insisted that intentions, not words, should matter.
Aproko Doctor, known for his advocacy on health and social issues, continues to use his platform to promote awareness on responsible behavior and healthy social practices.
