Famous South African DJ and record producer Black Coffee has declared that he will never walk down the aisle again.
The Grammy Award-winning artist, who is a father of four, revealed that he has gained a deeper understanding of himself and will no longer allow societal expectations to dictate his personal choices.
Speaking in a recent episode of Podcast and Chill, Black Coffee shared that his parents once pressured him into marriage after he became successful in the music industry.
“I won’t get married again. I’m clear about that because I am now in a better space in understanding who I am. I also understand the kind of pressure society puts you in without ever backing you up,” he said.
He further explained how his parents’ excitement over his early success led to them urging him to settle down.
“With my career, especially because it wasn’t so obvious, meaning I wasn’t going to get a degree and become a lawyer. It was very unclear, but as soon as it popped, everyone was wowed. I bought my first house and car, and they [my parents] were like, ‘When are you getting a wife?’”
Black Coffee added that societal pressure continued to influence his decisions until he finally realized that staying single was better for his peace of mind and career focus.
The celebrated DJ and producer was previously married to South African actress Enhle Mbali Mlotshwa. The pair separated in 2019 following reports of infidelity involving Black Coffee and a local model.
Their marriage produced two children, while the DJ has two other kids from previous relationships.
