Aliko Dangote Urges Nigerians to Embrace Locally Made Products to Strengthen the Economy
The President and Chief Executive Officer of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has called on Nigerians to patronise homegrown products as a means of strengthening the country’s economy and creating more jobs.
In a video message shared by former presidential aide Reno Omokri on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, the billionaire businessman urged citizens to prioritise locally manufactured goods over imported ones, emphasising that such a shift would promote economic independence and national growth.
Dangote said, “I want to encourage all Nigerians to buy only made in Nigeria. When you buy anything made in Nigeria, you are helping to create jobs. And the only way for us to be a stronger nation is to patronise ourselves and be buying made in Nigeria only so that we can create jobs and prosperity. Thank you. Thank you for watching and may God bless you.”
The industrialist has long been an advocate of local production and industrialisation, with his company expanding into key sectors such as cement, sugar, salt, and oil refining — all aimed at reducing Nigeria’s reliance on imports and driving sustainable economic growth.
