Reality TV star and actress Ese Eriata has clapped back at critics who constantly shame women over their personal decisions, especially regarding marriage and motherhood.
Clearly frustrated by the unsolicited remarks, Ese took to social media with a passionate message urging people to stop judging women without understanding their stories.
“In as much as marriage is a good thing, some people don’t think or wonder why a person chose a certain path,” she began. “You don’t know my past, you don’t know if I have trauma or been abused, you don’t know if I have trust or anger issues I’m trying to heal from. You don’t know if I’m taking my time to study who I want to end up with or if I’m mentally ready.”
She went on to explain that many women are unfairly criticized no matter what they do.
“You’ll hear them shouting, ‘Once you are 30+ and no husband, just have your kids.’ When you go ahead to have kids, they’ll say, ‘Where is the father? Oh, no husband — single mother.’ When you choose to wait on the Lord and clock 40+, they’ll say, ‘As beautiful as you are, you don’t even have at least one child.’ Then when God finally brings love or a husband, they’ll ask, ‘Why him? Couldn’t he find a younger woman?’”
Ese also expressed disappointment that many of these judgmental comments often come from women themselves.
“What amazes me the most is that most of these harsh comments come from women,” she added. “People should learn to think before typing. Commenting is free, but that doesn’t mean you should lose your sense while doing it.”
Her candid post has since gone viral, sparking widespread conversations about the pressures society places on women regarding marriage, age, and motherhood. Many fans praised Ese for boldly speaking out and reminding others that every woman’s journey is unique.
