Ariana Grande is showing love to one of her biggest inspirations — Beyoncé.
During a new episode of the Shut Up Evan podcast, the Wicked star reflected on a memorable moment from the early days of her career when Beyoncé offered her words of encouragement after her breakout performance at the 2013 American Music Awards.
Grande revealed that the Renaissance icon personally invited her to a video shoot shortly after the show-stopping performance.
“She was just being kind and gave me a little bit of advice,” Grande shared.
Though the two megastars have rarely been spotted together publicly, Ariana has long spoken about Beyoncé’s influence on her artistry, often citing Destiny’s Child as one of her earliest inspirations and crediting Bey’s powerhouse vocals as a major influence on her own sound.
Reflecting on the brief but impactful encounter, Grande added,
“Even if I’m not super close, it was just a really kind thing for her to do that.”
From one powerhouse vocalist to another, the mutual respect between Beyoncé and Ariana Grande continues to highlight the power of mentorship and sisterhood in the music industry.
