Afrobeats superstar Burna Boy has opened up about why he prefers to live in Nigeria instead of moving permanently to the United States, despite his massive international success.
During his debut appearance on Twitch with streamer PlaqueBoyMax, the Grammy-winning singer revealed that he feels a stronger sense of true freedom in his home country than anywhere else.
“The real meaning of freedom exists in my country. I can’t ever be completely free here. Guys end up in jail here in America,” Burna Boy said during the live session.
According to him, while the U.S. might appear glamorous and full of opportunities, it doesn’t offer the same level of comfort and authenticity he experiences in Nigeria.
The candid moment took place on PlaqueBoyMax’s late-night Twitch show, In The Booth, marking Burna Boy’s first-ever appearance on the streaming platform.
With this revelation, Burna Boy once again proved that beyond his global recognition, he remains deeply rooted in his African identity and values.
