Nollywood actress Laide Bakare has spoken out again to address the backlash over her recent comment about taking her 17-year-old daughter, Similoluwa, to a nightclub.
The actress previously faced criticism after a clip circulated online showing her saying she had introduced her daughter to clubbing and given her alcohol.
In a new video posted on her Instagram page, Bakare explained that her statement was misunderstood, insisting she never gave her daughter alcohol and describing her earlier words as a “slip of tongue.”
“I have not been able to concentrate since morning because of the accusations of me introducing my teenage daughter, Similoluwa, to alcohol. My phone has been buzzing since. She is a minor and she doesn’t take alcohol. I took her to the club but no alcohol,” Bakare said.
She further clarified that she was unaware of her wording during the interview and apologized for the misunderstanding.
“I didn’t know I said it in the interview that I gave her alcohol. It was a slip of tongue. I am sorry to Simi and to the parents that feel like I am wrong with that step. This is why it takes time for me to grant interviews. I am sorry for the blunder,” she said.
Following her clarification and apology, the actress’s comment section has become calmer, with many fans praising her for taking responsibility and setting the record straight.
