Pep Guardiola Buys New Barcelona Home as Divorce Nears Finalisation

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has reportedly purchased a new home in Barcelona as his divorce from wife Cristina Serra nears completion.

According to reports, the luxury property is located in Pedralbes, the same upscale neighbourhood where the couple bought their first home years ago. The residence is said to serve as a retreat for Guardiola — a place to unwind from the relentless pressure of Premier League football.

News of the couple’s separation surfaced earlier this year, though sources say the decision was made during a private dinner in October 2024. While the reason for the split remains unconfirmed, reports suggest tensions arose after Guardiola extended his contract with Manchester City without informing Serra, who had long desired to spend more time with her husband.

The couple, who had been together for decades, reportedly made efforts to reconcile earlier this year. In April, they were said to be exploring ways to “rebuild bridges” and find balance between Guardiola’s demanding career and family life.

However, according to The Sun, the divorce is now “imminent.” A source told the outlet that Guardiola’s new home is “spacious, with spectacular views of the city and high-end finishes that reflect Pep’s refined taste.”

“It’s close enough to central Barcelona’s shops and restaurants but also offers the calm and privacy Pep needs to recharge after long days of work,” the source added.

Despite personal challenges, Guardiola remains focused on football. The City boss recently stated that he has no plans to take a break from management anytime soon, dismissing suggestions from his long-time analyst Carles Planchart that he should rest before his next career chapter.

“He’s right — but in 2035 I’ll start to think about it,” Guardiola said. “I still have the energy to help my players have a better season than the last. That’s my focus.”

Guardiola’s future at Manchester City continues to draw speculation, but for now, the 53-year-old appears intent on balancing his professional ambitions with a renewed sense of personal space in Catalonia.
