The United States has officially removed Mali from its controversial visa bond programme, which previously required certain foreign nationals to pay a refundable deposit of up to $15,000 when applying for business or tourist visas.
The decision comes after Mali introduced a reciprocal visa bond policy for U.S. citizens applying for entry into the West African nation.
In response, Washington has taken Mali off the list, effectively ending the visa bond requirement between the two countries.
