Nigerian influencer and devoted Wizkid fan, Barbiecue, has sparked widespread outrage after resurfacing online to debunk earlier reports of her death, claiming her Instagram account was hacked.
Barbiecue, whose verified Instagram page had announced her “death” just two days earlier, returned to social media hours later, insisting the viral post was fake.
She criticized Nigerians for “believing bad news too quickly” and denied staging the incident for attention.
However, her explanation has done little to calm the internet, as many users accused her of orchestrating the drama to gain clout.
Critics flooded social media with angry comments, branding the entire episode an “attention-seeking stunt” and telling her to “enjoy her 15 minutes of fame.”
Even members of Wizkid’s fanbase, popularly known as the FC, expressed disappointment, saying her actions reflected poorly on the community.
The controversy began after a post from her verified account claimed Barbiecue had died following a tragic fall while helping a woman with a baby carrier. Despite her denial, the post announcing her supposed death remains visible on her Instagram page.
