JUST IN: Emirates Airline Suspends operations in Nigeria

Emirates airline has announced plans to resume flight operations to Nigeria, marking the end of a nearly two-year suspension of services on the route.

The development was confirmed in a statement released on Thursday by the airline’s Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, Adnan Kazim.

“We are excited to resume our services to Nigeria. We thank the Nigerian government for their partnership and support in re-establishing this route, and we look forward to welcoming passengers back on board,” the statement read.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) had stopped issuing visas to Nigerians in 2022 after Emirates suspended flights due to challenges repatriating funds from the country.

Emirates, which has long been a preferred airline among Nigerian travellers, said the resumed operations would reconnect passengers to Dubai and over 140 destinations across its global network.

The announcement follows renewed diplomatic engagement between Nigeria and the UAE, particularly after President Bola Tinubu met with UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi last September.
