Nigerian actor and former Big Brother Naija housemate Boma Akpore has revealed that he launched his podcast platform to take complete control of his story and how it is told.
In an interview with Sunday Scoop, Boma explained that his decision stemmed from the media’s power to shape public perception.
He said, “I started my podcasts because the media is strong; they determine the narrative. So I want to be able to control my narrative. Sometimes people just throw someone under the bus and narrate things however they want. I want to control the narrative.”
The actor also expressed gratitude for the remarkable growth of Nollywood, praising the industry’s resilience and continued progress.
“I am grateful for the growth of Nollywood. I am grateful for the stories. We are very resilient; no matter what has been done to pull us down, we refuse to go under. We are always fighting to stay afloat,” he said.
Speaking on how he has evolved beyond the fame of his reality TV stint, Boma highlighted his efforts to reinvent himself, noting that he currently hosts two podcasts — Unbox Review Show and Unbox Review Show Special.
“My fans should keep supporting and believing in me,” he added.
Reflecting on his experience with the media and the lessons he’s learned, Boma stated, “I have learnt that not everything in the media is true, and not everything true is in the media.”
