Inter Miami captain Lionel Messi has reignited speculation of a potential return to FC Barcelona after being spotted inside the redeveloped Nou Camp Stadium on Sunday.
Messi, who left the Catalan giants in August 2021 to join Paris Saint-Germain as a free agent before later signing with Inter Miami, shared a reflective post that sent fans into a frenzy.
Posting a photo of himself inside the iconic stadium, the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner wrote:
“Last night I returned to a place I miss with my soul. A place where you guys made me feel a thousand times the happiest person in the world.
I hope one day I return, and not just to say goodbye as a player, as I never got to…”
The heartfelt message immediately stirred rumours of a possible reunion with his boyhood club, where he spent over two decades, winning numerous domestic and international titles.
While Messi is currently focused on maintaining fitness ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, reports have also linked him with a short-term loan move to Galatasaray during Major League Soccer’s off-season.
Whether the Argentine legend’s post was simply nostalgic or a hint at unfinished business with Barcelona remains to be seen — but one thing is certain: the Camp Nou still feels like home for Messi.
