Meghan Markle’s spokesperson has firmly refuted claims suggesting the Duchess of Sussex kept a designer dress from a past photoshoot without permission, describing the rumour as both false and defamatory.
The allegation surfaced after fans noticed that Meghan appeared to be wearing the same forest-green one-shoulder gown — a £1,300 Galvan design — in the newly released promo for her Netflix holiday special, With Love, Meghan.
The dress was originally worn during her 2022 Variety photoshoot. In the fresh Netflix promo, Meghan is seen wearing the gown while lighting candles at a dinner-themed setup, prompting speculation that she may have taken the dress home after the magazine shoot.
Her spokesperson strongly dismissed the claim, stating:
“The insinuation that any items were taken without the full knowledge and agreement of the on-set stylists or their respective teams is not only categorically false but also highly defamatory. Any items kept were done so in total transparency and in accordance with contractual arrangements.”
A source also clarified to the Express that keeping garments from editorial shoots is “commonplace and prudent,” noting that it prevents outfits from being auctioned off for significant profit in the future.
The rumour emerges just days after Meghan featured in another high-profile fashion spread, this time for Harper’s Bazaar, continuing her streak of prominent media appearances.
