American rapper Offset is facing a new legal battle after a security guard filed a lawsuit accusing him of assault, battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
According to TMZ, court documents show that Jim Sanchez, a security guard, filed the suit following an incident that occurred in March at a MedMen cannabis dispensary near Los Angeles International Airport.
Sanchez alleged that when he asked Offset (real name Kiari Kendrell Cephus) to show identification, the rapper “became hostile, verbally confrontational, and physically attacked [him] by striking him in the face.” The guard further claimed that several others joined in, escalating the confrontation and leaving him with severe head and neck pain that required hospital treatment.
Offset’s team, however, denied the allegations, claiming that the security guard had rushed at the rapper and spat in his face during the ID dispute. The spokesperson maintained that Offset did not initiate any violence.
The former husband of Cardi B is already entangled in other legal troubles. He is currently facing enforcement of a judgment related to a 2021 alleged assault at a Florida strip club, where two men accused him of attacking them. Court records obtained by Us Weekly show that the alleged victims have begun the process to collect damages earlier this year.
Adding to his woes, Offset was recently hit with a new six-figure tax claim from the U.S. Internal Revenue Service, bringing his total unpaid tax bill to over $2.3 million (£1.75 million).
With multiple lawsuits and financial disputes unfolding simultaneously, Offset’s legal challenges appear to be mounting on several fronts.
