Nigerian singer Omawumi Megbele has opened up about her past romantic relationship with the late music producer Dokta Frabz, revealing new details about their bond and how he influenced her career.
The 43-year-old made the revelation during an interview with Jay On Air, where she also reflected on her close friendship with the late rapper Dagrin.
“Dagrin was my guy, we used to hang out together. He was a fantastic person,” Omawumi said, clarifying that there was no romantic involvement between them.
Speaking about her connection with Dokta Frabz, the “If You Ask Me” crooner described him as a passionate and talented music lover whose artistry drew her in.
“I was drawn to Dokta Frabz because he was such a lover of music. He was incredibly talented. He would look into my eyes while singing and I would be cheering.
And because of that, I was always around him, in his studio. I met most of the music industry figures through Dokta Frabz. We actually dated,” she revealed.
Dokta Frabz, born Ayorinde Faboro, was a prolific Nigerian music producer known for his work with some of the biggest names in Afrobeats before his tragic death in 2021.
Meanwhile, Dagrin, whose real name was Oladapo Olaitan Olaonipekun, died in a car accident in April 2010 at the age of 25 — a loss that still resonates deeply in Nigeria’s hip-hop community.
