Prominent Nigerian cleric, Bishop David Oyedepo, has issued a firm declaration during a recent church service, asserting that Nigeria will never be overtaken by extremist ideologies despite the escalating wave of violent attacks across the country.
Addressing congregants, the founder of the Living Faith Church Worldwide emphasized the resilience of the Christian community, describing the Church in Nigeria as “indestructible” and urging members to remain steadfast amid growing security threats. His comments follow a spate of deadly incidents, including the killing of five worshippers during a church service last week and the abduction of 35 residents from a rural community, where kidnappers are reportedly demanding a ₦100 million ransom.
Bishop Oyedepo condemned the activities of armed groups and issued strong spiritual pronouncements against those responsible for the violence. He assured worshippers that their prayers would provoke divine intervention and predicted catastrophic consequences for the perpetrators.
He declared:
“Nigeria will never become an Islamic state. Never, never!
The church of Christ in Nigeria is indestructible. The gates of hell cannot prevail against thee. The battle is raging, Islamic jihadists are roaring, but we belong to a higher realm of authority.Five people shot dead in church last week, 35 abductees, and they are demanding ₦100 million from a village setting. Every perpetrator and their sponsors come under a curse today. When this church prays, God hears. In the camp of the wicked, there shall be catastrophe. Everyone behind it — within the next seven days — they are smelling, they’re stinking.”
Oyedepo’s remarks have since drawn reactions across social platforms, with many Nigerians echoing his concerns over rising insecurity while calling for urgent government action.
