CAF

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has fined Egypt $5,000 for failing to meet post-match media obligations following their 2-1 victory over Zimbabwe at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

CREEBHILLS reports that players and technical officials of the seven-time champions, led by Hossam Hassan, refused to engage journalists in the mixed zone after the match.

CAF described the action as a clear breach of its media regulations and warned Egypt that stiffer sanctions would be imposed if the offence is repeated during the tournament.

Egypt will return to action on Friday when they face South Africa’s Bafana Bafana in their second group game.
