Afrobeats superstar Davido delivered an electrifying performance at the official kick-off concert for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, drawing massive cheers from fans in Rabat, Morocco.
The concert was held at the Olm Souissi Fan Zone just hours before the tournament officially began on Sunday, December 21. Davido, introduced by his hypeman Special Spesh, was met with roaring applause as he took the stage.
Performing to a packed crowd, the singer — born David Adeleke — delivered a rich setlist spanning different phases of his career. He performed early breakout hits such as Aye and Fall, alongside fan favourites including If, Unavailable, and With You.
The opening ceremony concert brought together artistes from across Africa and the diaspora. Davido shared the stage with Moroccan-American rapper French Montana, Comorian singer Says’Z, and Moroccan stars Douaa Lahyaoui and Lartiste, underscoring the tournament’s continental and global appeal.
The performance was part of festivities marking the start of the Africa Cup of Nations, which Morocco is hosting. The competition will run for several weeks, with 24 national teams battling for Africa’s top football honour.
Nigeria’s Super Eagles have been drawn in Group C and are set to open their campaign against Tanzania on December 23.
Davido first rose to fame in 2012 with the release of his hit single “Dami Duro”. Since then, he has released multiple successful albums, including A Good Time, A Better Time, Timeless, and 5ive, and continues to lead his imprint, Davido Music Worldwide.
