Co-convener of the BringBackOurGirls Movement, Aisha Yesufu, has announced her decision to become a card-carrying member of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, citing her support for Peter Obi.
Yesufu made the declaration on Wednesday in solidarity with Obi following his defection from the Labour Party to the ADC in Enugu.
She called on well-meaning Nigerians to unite ahead of the 2027 general elections, stressing the need for collective action to rescue the country from its current challenges.
According to Yesufu, she has never previously been a registered member of any political party but is now ready to take a firm political stance.
“I have never been a card-carrying member of any political party, but I will be a card-carrying member of the ADC,” she said.
Expressing frustration over the state of the nation, Yesufu declared that Nigerians could no longer afford to remain passive.
“Enough is enough. There’s no more time for us to keep shedding tears. We have cried too much,” she stated.
She added that the time had come for decisive action, noting that sustained civic engagement was necessary to build a better Nigeria.
“From this moment going forward, we will fight for Nigeria. We will have a great nation,” she said.
Yesufu further expressed confidence in the ADC, saying the party represents a platform where merit, not connections, would determine success.
“ADC will take Nigeria to a point where the son of a nobody can become somebody without knowing anybody,” she added.
