Luis Suárez Extends Inter Miami Stay With New Deal Until 2026

Luis Suárez has re-signed with Inter Miami

Luis Suárez has committed his future to Inter Miami after signing a new contract that will see him remain with the club beyond the current season.

The Major League Soccer champions confirmed that the veteran Uruguayan striker has agreed terms to stay through the 2026 campaign. Suárez, who will turn 39 in January, enjoyed a standout 2025 season, recording 17 goals and 17 assists in 50 appearances across all competitions.

Since joining Inter Miami ahead of the 2024 season, Suárez has played a central role in the team’s success. He has so far scored 42 goals and contributed 29 assists in 87 matches, establishing himself as one of the club’s most influential players.

Inter Miami co-owner Jorge Mas had previously revealed the club’s desire to keep Suárez, while emphasizing that the final decision would rest with the player. Mas noted that the striker deserved the freedom to decide how and when his time at the club would come to an end, while making it clear that the club was eager for him to continue.

The contract extension follows Inter Miami’s recent MLS Cup triumph earlier this month. Although Suárez and Lionel Messi did not score in the final, their overall impact throughout the season was crucial as Miami defeated the Vancouver Whitecaps 3–1 to claim the title.

Suárez and Messi are now the last remaining members of the club’s celebrated “Core Four” of former Barcelona stars, following the retirements of Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba after the 2025 playoffs. Their long-standing chemistry once again proved decisive during the campaign.

Messi capped off the season by being named MLS Most Valuable Player, becoming the first player in league history to win the award in back-to-back seasons after also claiming it in 2024.

Inter Miami, co-owned by David Beckham, are preparing to open their new home ground, Miami Freedom Park, on April 4 against Austin FC. The team’s 2026 season will begin with five straight away fixtures before their first home match at the new stadium.

With Suárez committing to another year and Messi continuing to lead the side, Inter Miami look set to build on their recent achievements and maintain their status as a major force in Major League Soccer.
