Former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, has called on the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukayode, to recuse himself from an ongoing investigation involving him.
Malami accused the EFCC boss of bias, personal vendetta, and political persecution, which he linked to his recent defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In a statement issued on Monday through his media aide, Muhammad Doka, the former AGF alleged that the anti-graft agency is engaging in illegal detention, media harassment, and abuse of due process.
He maintained that the investigation is not motivated by genuine law enforcement concerns but by what he described as long-standing hostility from the EFCC leadership.
“I have been clearly pre-judged and cannot receive a fair, objective or lawful investigation under the current leadership of the EFCC,” Malami stated.
