Popular Oyo State–based media figure and Agidigbo FM founder, Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat, has officially announced his intention to run for governor in the 2027 Oyo State election on the platform of the Accord Party.
Hamzat made the declaration during a public address, where he made it clear that he is charting an independent political path ahead of the polls. According to him, he will no longer play a supportive role for other political aspirants as the next election cycle approaches.
Speaking at the event, he stated, “I am publicly declaring today that in 2027. I will not campaign for anyone or mobilise crowds for anyone.
“I will contest in the gubernatorial election under the Accord Party.”
The announcement represents a notable shift in Oriyomi Hamzat’s political stance, as he distances himself from backing other candidates and positions himself as a frontline contender for the state’s top political office. With this move, the media entrepreneur signals his readiness to actively seek the governorship of Oyo State ahead of the 2027 elections.
