Nigerian singer Ceeza Milli has claimed that he played a significant role in discovering and nurturing the talent of fellow artiste Ayra Starr before she rose to fame.
Speaking in a recent interview with Yanga FM Lagos, Milli said he discovered Ayra Starr at a very young age through a personal connection, explaining that she was the school daughter of a woman he was dating at the time.
According to Ceeza Milli, his involvement went beyond discovery, as he also provided accommodation and support during her early years, insisting that his impact on her career cannot be denied.
“When I discovered Ayra Starr, I wasn’t really paying attention to keeping artists, but I like to watch artists grow,” he said. “She can’t deny my impact on her career. I discovered her at a very young age.
“She was still in school then. She was my ex-girlfriend’s school daughter, so she was even staying at my place at a point,” he added.
Ayra Starr later rose to prominence after the release of her self-titled debut extended play in January 2021 under Mavin Records, a project that introduced her to a wider audience and marked the beginning of her mainstream success.
However, the singer has previously credited Mavin Records boss Don Jazzy for discovering her. Ayra Starr revealed in earlier interviews that Don Jazzy reached out to her in December 2019 after coming across her music on Instagram, where she regularly shared her songs.
Ceeza Milli’s comments have since sparked discussions online, with fans debating the roles various individuals played in shaping Ayra Starr’s journey to stardom.
