Midfield star Fermín López has agreed to extend his contract with FC Barcelona until 2031, the Spanish champions announced on Friday.
Barcelona confirmed that the 22-year-old has agreed “to extend and improve his contract for a further two seasons up to 30 June 2031,” securing the long-term future of another key first-team player. The club added that the new deal will be formally signed in the coming days.
A product of Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy, López has become an important figure in the squad since making his senior debut during the 2023–24 season. The industrious attacking midfielder has made 113 appearances, scoring 29 goals across all competitions.
López has also established himself at international level, becoming a regular feature in Spain national football team squads and playing a role in Spain’s successful run to the Euro 2024 title.
His extension follows a series of renewals by Barcelona over the past year, with key players such as Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, Gavi, Pedri, and Pau Cubarsí all committing their futures to the club.
López will next turn his focus to league action, as Barcelona aim to move four points clear at the top of La Liga when Elche CF host Hansi Flick’s side on Saturday.
