Veteran Nigerian musician Seyi Sodimu has shared his perspective on the reach and influence of the Afrobeats “Big 3” — Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy — stressing that each commands a different type of power.
Speaking on a recent episode of the What I Know podcast hosted by Korty EO, alongside actress Shaffy Bello, the Love Me Jeje crooner said the trio influence audiences in distinct ways.
According to Sodimu, Wizkid possesses a unique, almost intangible appeal, Burna Boy’s strength lies squarely in his musical dominance, while Davido’s influence extends far beyond entertainment.
“The [Afrobeats] Big 3, each one is doing it for different reasons,” Sodimu said. “Burna Boy has conquered the stage, and he is good. Wizkid is special. And Davido surpasses music.”
He went further to suggest that Davido’s reach could translate into political success if he ever chose that path.
“If Davido ran for governor today, he would win. But I don’t think Burna Boy could win as a governor,” he added, attributing the difference to the kind of influence each artist wields.
This is not the first time Davido has been linked to potential political aspirations. In 2025, former Nigerian lawmaker Ben Murray-Bruce publicly predicted that the singer could one day become governor of Osun State.
Davido has strong political ties to the state, as his uncle, Ademola Adeleke, is the current governor.
Sodimu’s comments have since sparked fresh conversations online about celebrity influence, fan loyalty, and the growing intersection between entertainment and politics in Nigeria.
