Alexes Peres, the ex-wife of Nigerian singer Harrysong, has revealed that she has taken the painful decision to give up custody of their two children, aged four and three, amid an ongoing dispute with the artiste.
In an emotional video shared on social media on Thursday, Alexes accused Harrysong of making her life difficult since she refused to return to their matrimonial home after leaving the marriage two years ago. She alleged that the singer has continuously harassed and frustrated her, saying she has endured a lot in silence.
“This man has not allowed me to rest. He frustrates my efforts. He comes to my house unannounced. He harasses me everywhere,” she said, adding that she has been emotionally drained by the situation.
According to her, Harrysong recently filed a petition against her containing what she described as false allegations. She said she intends to file a counter-petition in due course.
Alexes explained that her decision to relinquish custody was not because she was weak, but because she needed to protect her own wellbeing. She stressed that the move was temporary and that she would fight to reclaim custody of her children when the time is right.
“I am going to now give him custody, for now. That doesn’t mean I am not going to come back for my children. I am tired, but I am not backing down,” she said.
She also expressed concern about the welfare of the children, noting that Harrysong is often not around and that they may end up being cared for by domestic staff. She appealed to Nigerians to bear witness to her situation and reiterated that her priority remains the safety and wellbeing of her children.
As of the time of this report, Harrysong has not publicly responded to the allegations.
