Jennifer Lawrence Faces Backlash After Rehoming Dog That Bit Her Son

Hollywood actress Jennifer Lawrence has come under fire online after revealing that she rehomed her chihuahua, Princess Pippi Longstocking, following an incident in which the dog bit her young son.

Lawrence made the disclosure while speaking at a screening of her film Die My Love in New York, where she discussed how motherhood has changed her views about having pets around small children. During the conversation, she also joked about wanting to “obliterate every dog” after the incident, a comment that triggered widespread backlash on social media.

Following her remarks, several users criticised the Hunger Games star, accusing her of being insensitive and irresponsible. Some argued that pets should not be given up after the arrival of children, while others said her choice of words could encourage fear and harm toward animals.

Critics described her comments as “disappointing” and “awful,” claiming they minimised the value of pets’ lives and sent the wrong message to pet owners.

However, Lawrence also received support from some fans, dog trainers, and animal welfare advocates, who cautioned against rushing to judgment. They argued that parents must prioritise their children’s safety and that rehoming an animal can be a responsible decision in certain situations.

Jennifer Lawrence clarified that the dog was not abandoned but rehomed with her parents. She also explained that becoming a mother has made her more anxious around dogs and changed how she perceives them.
