Manchester United have reportedly paid Ruben Amorim a £10 million pay-off following his dismissal on Monday, according to the Daily Mail.
The Portuguese manager has departed Old Trafford after just 14 months in charge of the Red Devils.
Amorim was informed of the club’s decision during an early morning meeting at the Carrington training ground with chief executive Omar Berrada and director of football Jason Wilcox. The meeting came shortly after United’s 1-1 draw with Leeds.
It was also gathered that the 40-year-old had been involved in disagreements with members of the club’s hierarchy in the days leading up to the Elland Road fixture.
In total, Manchester United’s decision to appoint and subsequently sack Amorim is estimated to have cost the club nearly £27 million.
United had earlier paid £8.3 million to buy out Amorim’s contract at Sporting Lisbon in October 2024, along with an additional £900,000 to enable him begin work immediately.
He signed a deal worth £6.5 million per year, running until June 2027, meaning his severance package for the remainder of the contract amounts to approximately £10.05 million.
