Nigeria’s Inflation Rises to 15.15% in December 2025 — NBS

Nigeria’s inflation rate climbed to 15.15 percent in December 2025, up from 14.45 percent recorded in November, according to the latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) report released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Thursday.

The data showed a month-on-month increase of 0.7 percent, with the CPI rising to 131.2 in December from 130.5 in the previous month.

Despite the rise in headline inflation, food inflation eased slightly. On a month-on-month basis, food inflation declined by 1.49 percent to 10.84 percent in December, compared to 11.08 percent in November. Year-on-year food inflation also moderated from the high levels recorded in December 2024.

The NBS noted that on a year-on-year basis, headline inflation stood at 15.15 percent in December 2025, representing a significant drop of 19.65 percentage points from the 34.80 percent recorded in December 2024.

“This shows that the headline inflation rate decreased in December 2025 compared to the same month in the preceding year, though with a different base year,” the report stated.

The figures come amid earlier projections that inflationary pressures would intensify toward the end of the year, underscoring ongoing volatility in Nigeria’s economic landscape.
