“I Don’t Want to Trend for the Wrong Reasons” — Nkechi Blessing Apologises to BBNaija Winner Imisi Ayanwale

Nkechi Blessing Reacts to Viral Video Comparison

Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing has issued a public apology to reality TV star Imisi Ayanwale following backlash over a personal question she asked during Imisi’s birthday celebration.

The incident occurred on Tuesday at Imisi’s birthday event, where Nkechi Blessing asked if the Big Brother Naija season 10 winner would ever forgive and reconcile with her estranged mother. The moment quickly sparked criticism online, with many describing the question as insensitive given the circumstances.

Imisi’s relationship with her mother has been a subject of public discussion since late 2025, when her mother shared videos online alleging abandonment and hardship. Imisi later responded by explaining that her mother had not been present for much of her life but that she had supported her over the years.

“If you found my question offensive, I am truly sorry. Please find a place in your heart to forgive me. To everyone dragging me, fighting me, or abusing me, I’m sorry. It was not intentional at all.”

The actress stressed that her intention was neither to embarrass Imisi nor to draw attention to herself, explaining that she initially chose to remain silent as the controversy spread online so as not to escalate the situation.
